China buys 35% stakes in U.S. wind utility

by Tony Sagami on November 6, 2009

The China Investment Corporation, one of China’s sovereign wealth fund, is buying a 35% stake in AES Corporation’s wind energy division for $571 million. This division generates 1,300 megawatts of electricity in the U.S., Europe and China and has another 525 megawatt stations under development.

China is rapidly becoming the world leader in renewable energy: solar, wind, and battery.
