China exporters predict lousy U.S. holiday sales

by Tony Sagami on October 4, 2009

There are a lot of opinions about how well or how poorly the upcoming holiday sales will be for American retailers, but the people that should really know — the Chinese exporters that make most of the holiday gifts we buy — are NOT encouraged.

In China, the time for holiday orders to be placed is already long gone. If American retailers haven’t placed their orders by now…they aren’t going to.

For example, textile and garment exports in the month of August were $15.7 billion, a 15.6% drop from the previous year.
