China: the world’s largest auto market

Henry Ford would be amazed.

It took 100 years but China is now the largest auto market in the world. According to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, 13.6 million cars were purchased in 2009. That’s way ahead of the 10.4 million sold in the U.S.

If you own or are thinking about investing in an auto stock, you better figure out how effective their China strategy is.

Hint: Toyota is doing great.
