Flextronics (Nasdaq:FLEX) opened a research and design center for laptop computers in Taiwan and expects to employ 1,500 computer engineers there. Flextronics will design laptops for big name computer vendors — like Hewlett Packard and Dell that are already customers — and then manufactured in Flextronics’ factories.
