The casino authority in Macau reported a 12.4% decline in casino revenues for the first six months of 2009. That’s not good news for Wynn, Las Vegas Sands, Melco PBL, and MGM who all operate casinos in Macau.
That 12.4% drop is a lot less than Vegas, so Macau is holding up a much better.
The real problem is a new limit on how often Chinese citizens are allowed to visit Macau. The Chinese government wanted to slow down the amount of gambling its citizens do and it has succeeded.
