Disneyland is coming to Shanghai.
Disneyland (DIS: 33.78 +0.09%)has struck a deal with the Chinese government to build a Disneyland theme park in Shanghai. The $3.5 billion park is expected to open in 2014.
Disney has not had great success with its overseas theme parks. I know that the one in Hong Kong has been a disappointment.
And worst of all, Disney has to give up 57% of the ownership of the park to the Chinese government.
If I was a Disney shareholder (and I’m not), I would not be very excited by this deal.
