Hat-tip to Yves at Naked Capitalism for the following photos of a monster-sized moose. Being from Maine, I have an affinity for moose. I’ve seen them in the wild, but not this big …
Over at Yves’ Naked Capitalism, John Bougearel writes:
Look at this Moose!
By the length of his beard and the grey legs, I figure he must be over 10 years old. He looks to be well over 8 feet at the top of the shoulder hump, and with his head up the height to the top of his antler must be about 12 feet. This guy is king of the forest, no bear or pack of wolves would dare come after him when he has this rack……Considering that a dirt road can fit 1 1/2 cars across … this fellow is HUGE …THIS IS ONE BIG BOY!
The picture was taken in Elliot Lake, which is near Sault Ste. Marie in Michigan ’s Upper Peninsula.
Yes it is a regular size dirt road.
XX Sean’s note — the last time I saw an animal that big walking down a road I was watching an episode of Primeval. Cast your vote in the comments: Is this moose photoshopped or not?

Photoshopped - it doesn’t look like the moose’s feet are on the ground in the second photo.
I’ve been up close and personal with enough moose to know that this moose has to have been on steroids, growth hormones and digital enhancement.
I concur. The pics have been photshopped.
That moose doesn’t cast enought shadows and is in the same position in the two photo.
I think is Photoshopped…
sorta real sorta fake… but wut do i no
Fake… Lack of shadows, but a nice try! Top one has a bit of a hot spot for lighting on his butt, exactly the same as the 2nd picture. 2nd picture, legs are too sharp versus the road/trees, lighting cast on the legs is wrong, and look at the lack of shadow by his front right hoof. Lighting on the legs are inconsistent to the shadows cast by the trees. The pine trees to the right of the moose do not have any shadows. The moose was shot in different lighting.
