Crude Inches Toward $82 on Demand Recovery Hopes

On the New York Mercantile Exchange, light, sweet crude–also referred to as West Texas Intermediate, or WTI–futures for delivery in February traded at $81.66 a barrel at 0541 GMT, up 15 cents in the Globex electronic session after it settled overnight at the highest level since Oct. 9, 2008. February Brent crude on London’s ICE Futures exchange rose 25 cents to $80.37 a barrel.
